New Office
Julius Baer Builds India Presence

The private bank said it intends to double its headcount and triple its assets under management in India within the next five years.
Julius Baer has moved to a new office in Aerocity, New Delhi, part of a five-year strategy to ramp operations in India.
The Swiss bank stressed its “cutting-edge” energy-saving features with advanced infrastructure, central water points, reduced plastic consumption – playing to its desire to set out its ESG credentials.
The new office operates as a satellite location, continuing to serve clients in the Delhi NCR region and various locations across North India. Julius Baer operates a “hub and spoke” model for offices in the country.

Julius Baer isn't alone in stepping up its India business operations. Two weeks ago, HSBC launched its global private banking business in India to serve high net worth and ultra-HNW professionals, entrepreneurs and their families. It is aimed at clients with investable assets of more than $2 million. Other international banks with a wealth angle which have targeted India include Switzerland's Julius Baer, Liechtenstein-based LGT, UK-listed Standard Chartered (a longstanding player in the market), Rothschild & Co, and Germany's Deutsche Bank.
“Every day, India welcomes nearly three individuals who join the ultra-high net worth individuals (UHNIs) club, with net worth in excess of $30 million. As the number of millionaires in the country continues to grow rapidly, Julius Baer India will take this opportunity to extend our footprint,” Rahul Malhotra, head of private banking for global India and developed markets, said.
“India's wealth sector is valued at $600 billion and growing at a rate of 12 per cent annually, yet only a quarter of this wealth is professionally managed,” Umang Papneja, CEO, Julius Baer India, said.
Julius Baer employs more than 200 professionals and maintains a pan-India network with a presence in seven cities.
The bank recently applied for an Alternate Investment Funds licence.
