State Street Names New Asia Pacific Head

New York-listed State Street Corporation makes senior hire who will oversee its Asia-Pacific business strategy, partnering with country, functional and business leaders to strengthen governance, deepen client and regulator engagement and accelerate regional growth
US-headquartered State Street has appointed Tim Helyar (pictured) as head of Asia Pacific, with immediate effect, to support the company’s regional growth strategy. He is succeeding Lochiel Crafter, who recently retired, and reports to Stefan Gmuer, head of International, the firm said in a statement.
Based in Hong Kong, Helyar will oversee State Street’s Asia-Pacific business strategy, partnering with country, functional and business leaders to strengthen governance, deepen client and regulator engagement and accelerate regional growth.
Helyar,who has more than 27 years of financial services experience across investment services, pension, investment and wealth management, joined State Street in 2021. Most recently he was head of Australia. Previously, he was head of fund services product development for Asia Pacific at JP Morgan.
“His regional knowledge and collaborative leadership will help advance our growth strategy across Asia Pacific, while supporting regional clients as they seek to unlock growth, gain efficiencies and seize new opportunities,” Gmuer said.

With offices in Australia, Japan, China, Hong Kong SAR, Singapore, Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, Brunei, the Philippines, and India, State Street provides investment servicing, investment management, investment research, trading and financing to asset owners, asset managers, official institutions, insurance companies and alternative managers.
