PineBridge Investments Creates Head Of Insurance Asset Management Role In Hong Kong

PineBridge Investments has hired an industry veteran to the newly-created role of head of insurance asset management based in Hong Kong.

PineBridge Investments, the multi-asset class manager based in New York, has hired an industry veteran to the newly-created role of head of insurance asset management based in Hong Kong.

Stephan van Vliet assumes this new post after serving as head of investments at ING Insurance Asia-Pacific, where he was responsible for the asset allocation of 10 Asian insurance companies from 2010 to 2013, and as director of proprietary asset management from 2005 to 2008. Before that, he was head of insurance asset management at ING Investment Management in Europe, specialising in insurance companies and pension funds.

The creation of this role complements PineBridge's growth efforts in insurance asset management in Asia, said the firm in a statement. While van Vliet will be based in Hong Kong, his coverage is global. He reports to both David Jian, global chief executive, and Rajeev Mittal, CEO of Asia. In November 2013, the company bolstered its Taiwan investment team with the appointment of Joseph Tang as vice president, chief investment officer.

PineBridge Investments manages some $69.1 billion in assets under management worldwide as at 30 September 2013.
