Ex-Credit Suisse Senior Banker Takes Regional Wealth Planning, Advisory Leadership Role

The newly-appointed figure has worked for Credit Suisse and UBS – which are now joining forces.

A former Credit Suisse managing director in Asia has joined HSBC Global Private Banking

The UK/Hong Kong-listed group has appointed Henry Lam as regional head of wealth planning and advisory, Asia-Pacific, effective 28 March. Lam is based in Hong Kong and will report to Siew Meng Tan, regional head of HSBC Global Private Banking, Asia-Pacific, HSBC said in a statement last Friday.

In his new role, Lam will be responsible for leading teams of wealth planners, family governance, family office advisory and philanthropic advisory specialists throughout the region to enhance and deepen client relationships and increase business. On an interim basis, Lam will also help drive the agenda for the ultra-high net worth business in Asia.

Lam was most recently managing director, head of wealth solutions for APAC, at Credit Suisse,  responsible for wealth planning advisory in Asia Pacific and the insurance referral business globally.

Prior to this, Lam worked for over two decades at UBS and was MD, head of wealth planning Hong Kong, where he led a team of wealth planners to provide wealth planning and trust advice to families in Asia-Pacific.

Lam holds a master of business administration from the University of British Columbia and a master of economics from the University of Cambridge.
