The latest moves and appointments at Credit Suisse Asset Management, part of the asset management division of the Credit Suisse Group.
Credit Suisse Asset Management has appointed Christine Chow as managing director and head of active ownership, starting in April.
She will be based in London, reporting to Jeroen Bos, global head of sustainable investing, the firm said in a statement.
Chow is joining from HSBC Asset Management, where she was head of stewardship and implemented a stewardship programme. Earlier in her career, she worked at Schroders, Aon (Hewitt Bacon & Woodrow), Federated Hermes and IHS Markit, the firm continued.
She was an adjunct professor in finance at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and is an emeritus governor of the London School of Economics and Political Science, the firm said. She is also an appointed advisor to the Hong Kong Accounting and Financial Reporting Council, the independent regulator of the accounting profession.
The asset manager considers that it is their responsibility to exercise ownership rights in the best interest of its clients and in accordance with its sustainability criteria, thereby generating sustainable added value. She will work alongside the head of ESG integration, Dominik Scheck, and the head of sustainability research, Nisha Long, who joined in January 2023. In addition, the team has made further key hires in recent months to strengthen its efforts.
Bos said: “Sustainability is of key importance to our clients and society, so I am very excited by the wealth of experience and talent that is joining our team. This will enable us to further accelerate our active ownership efforts under the leadership of Christine, and build up our sustainability research capabilities under the leadership of Nisha, further strengthening the integration of sustainability and environmental, social and governance considerations into the service we deliver to clients.”
Credit Suisse Asset Management manages assets worth over SFr427 billion ($463 billion) worldwide, offering active and passive solutions for traditional and alternative investments as well as product expertise in Switzerland, EMEA, APAC, and the Americas. The asset manager said it attaches great importance to sustainability, pursuing differing approaches in which environmental, social and governance criteria are applied at various points in the investment process.
