Standard Chartered Names Global Head For Private Client Sales

The newly-appointed figure has worked at Credit Suisse and UBS.
Standard Chartered has appointed Raza Jafree as global head, private client sales.
Jafree, who will lead a team under a new partnership between the bank’s corporate and investment banking and wealth and retail banking business, will offer relevant CIB solutions to single-family offices and ultra-high net worth individuals within the private bank, as well as SFOs and multi-family offices already managed by CIB.
In his new role, Jafree will report jointly to Sharad Desai, global head, sales and structuring, CIB and Raymond Ang, global head, private bank and affluent clients, and head wealth and retail banking, Greater China & North Asia. Jafree joined the bank on 2 February and is based in Hong Kong.
Before this, Jafree worked for almost 30 years at Credit Suisse and subsequently at UBS, distributing bespoke solutions across products including private and public credit, rates, recourse and non-recourse financing. He holds a BA in economics from the University of Liverpool and an MSc in international banking and derivatives securities analysis from Southampton University.
Last week, Standard Chartered made senior appointments for its discretionary portfolio management team in Singapore.
In other recent news, Standard Chartered launched Invest Like Champions, a global marketing campaign developed in partnership with Liverpool Football Club, to elevate the bank’s Signature CIO Funds across 12 markets.
In January, Standard Chartered officially opened its first Wealth Management Centre in the Greater Bay Area, located in Shenzhen.
