PineBridge Investments, the investment management firm, has appointed Anita Varga as managing director and head of product development for Asia.

Varga is a 25-year industry veteran who previously led the regional product development unit of ING Investment Management Asia-Pacific and Deutsche Asset Management Asia. At ING, she headed teams that expanded the firm's Luxembourg funds range into Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan and developed Cayman funds for distribution in Hong Kong and Singapore.

In her new capacity, Anita Varga will be based in Hong Kong with a focus on coordinating product development initiatives in the Asia ex-Japan region. The appointment complements PineBridge Investment's expansion drive in Asia and follows the recent hire of Desmond Tjiang from BNP Paribas to become managing director, portfolio manager for Greater China and Hong Kong early this month.

PineBridge Investments was previously under American International Group until it was sold to Hong Kong-based private investment firm Pacific Century Group in March 2010 for $277 million. PCG is owned by Hong Kong billionaire Richard Li. PineBridge records $77.9 billion in assets under management as of 30 June 2011.
