Barclays yesterday appointed former Morgan Stanley figure Wee Yee-Yeong (main picture) as head of private bank Singapore and head of private bank Asia. Based in Singapore, he will lead Barclays’ private banking business in Singapore, working with the private bank’s distribution teams serving international Asian clients. He will join Barclays later this year. Private Bank India will remain under the leadership of Adrish Ghosh, who will report to Annabelle Bryde, head of private bank international. At Morgan Stanley, Yee-Yeong is chief executive and head of sales for the firm’s Singapore wealth management business. He brings more than two decades of experience building wealth management franchises, leading teams and advising ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) clients across Asia Pacific. He held senior leadership and client coverage roles at Bank of Singapore, Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, UBS Wealth Management, and Merrill Lynch. He will succeed Alexander Harrison in his capacity as interim head of Private Bank Singapore. Throughout his career, Yee-Yeong has served internationally mobile entrepreneurs, wealth creators and family offices across the region. The appointment follows the recent launch of Barclays Private Bank’s Singapore booking centre, reinforcing its ability to serve clients in the region. “Singapore is a key market for Barclays and an important gateway to growth across Asia Pacific. Yee-Yeong’s deep regional expertise, strong leadership credentials and client relationships will help us build on the momentum we have established in the region,” Annabelle Bryde, head of Barclays Private Bank International, said. “His appointment marks an important step in the next phase of our growth strategy as we continue to deepen relationships with entrepreneurs, UHNW clients and family offices across the region.” "Asia Pacific is a strategically important region for Barclays, and Singapore is central to our long-term growth ambitions. The recent launch of our Singapore booking centre marked a significant milestone in our growth strategy, and Yee-Yeong's appointment represents another important step in that journey,” Jaideep Khanna, CEO, Asia Pacific, Barclays, added. “His leadership will help us deepen relationships with entrepreneurs, family offices and international clients, while connecting them to the breadth of Barclays' banking, markets and financing capabilities. I would also like to thank Alexander Harrison for his leadership during this period of transition.” Barclays has been present in APAC for over 50 years, supporting corporations and financial institutions across key markets including Australia, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Mainland China, Singapore, and Taiwan.
