UBS appointed several senior figures in its Asia-Pacific wealth management business: First Sentier Group appointed Belinda Webber as chief people officer (CPO), based in Sydney. She reports to CEO Harry Moore. Webber was appointed after the previous chief people officer and culture officer, Adele Swan, stepped down after the CPO role was moved to Sydney from Edinburgh. Webber formerly served as group executive, chief human resources officer at Rabobank. International law firm Trowers & Hamlins appointed senior corporate lawyers Saravanan Rathakrishnan and Dato' Kunal Chahl. Rathakrishnan, who specialises in investment funds, family office structuring, and private equity transactions, has experience advising UHNW individuals. Raffles Family Office appointed two senior figures: Daniel Lai and Eileen Wee, based in Hong Kong and Singapore, respectively. Lai, who is executive director and head of wealth planning for Greater China, joined the firm at the end of May. Previously, he was with DBS Private Bank. Lai also worked at financial services firms in Hong Kong including HSBC Private Bank and Standard Chartered Private Bank. Wee, who also joined in May, was appointed as executive director, head of wealth planning for Southeast Asia. Her career includes working at UBS, Credit Suisse, HSBC Trustee Singapore, and DBS Private Banking. RBC Wealth Management appointed four senior private bankers based in Hong Kong: Amanda Yeung, managing director and team head, has more than 25 years of wealth management experience. She was previously with China Construction Bank (Asia), where she was deputy general manager and deputy head of private banking. Felix Yuan, director, has more than a decade of private banking experience, and was previously at Standard Chartered Private Bank, where he was a director managing high net worth client relationships. Anthony Shiu, director, was previously at BNP Paribas, where he was senior vice president specialising in ultra-high net worth advisory. Desmond Kwong, director was with BNP Paribas Wealth Management, where he was senior vice president. He has also worked at Julius Baer and HSBC. Capital Group made several appointments for its Hong Kong operations: Chris Tong was appointed managing director, financial intermediaries, Greater China. Tong joined from JP Morgan Asset Management, where he was an executive director. Aaron Tsang joined as business development associate to support regional business development. He and Tang report to Henry Chan, head of financial intermediaries, Hong Kong. Hillary Juan, who joined as fixed income investment director, reports to Jeremy Cunningham, investment director. Juan was formerly an iShares fixed income product strategist at BlackRock. UBS appointed former JBWare senior figure Damian Robinson as market team head for its wealth management business in Australia. Robinson is based in Sydney and reports to Andrew Bird, head of global wealth management Australia. Robinson was head of advice for New South Wales and Queensland at JBWare for five years. UOB Private Bank appointed former senior Bank of Singapore figure Dennis Hong as regional market head, Greater China and North Asia, UOB Private Bank. Hong, based in Singapore, reports to Chew Mun Yew, head of UOB Private Bank. Prior to this, Hong worked for more than six years at BoS, most recently as market group head and managing director, Asia-Pacific, in Singapore. Hong Kong-based MCM Partners, specialising in areas such as investment management and capital markets, launched a family office offering, and appointed Christophe Page to head the operation. He has a two-decade track record of working in private banking, alternative investments and family office advisory. Senior roles include those at UBS, Pictet, Landholt & Cie. Page was also managing director at Precious & Associates Family Offices in Geneva, and head of family office, and investment committee member for Swiss China Center, in Shenzhen; he was also head of private investments for Novastone Capital, based in Geneva. IQ-EQ appointed Wyn James as its new head of asset owners for Asia-Pacific, based in Singapore. In this newly-created role, he reports to Stuart Pinnington, IQ-EQ’s global head of asset owners. James previously held senior positions at MSCI/Burgiss, JP Morgan, RBC Capital Markets, Coutts and Merrill Lynch. Schroders Wealth Management appointed Sharon Sim as head of business development, Asia. Sim is based in Singapore. She has more than 25 years of experience in wealth management, family offices and capital markets in Asia. Prior to Schroders, Sim held senior leadership positions in single and multi-family offices in Singapore, including chief executive officer of a single-family office.
-- For Taiwan, the Swiss bank appointed Damien Hsiao as regional global wealth management (GWM) head of the country, overseeing domestic and international businesses.
Sherry Lin and Christine Lai were named as co-heads for the GWM Taiwan Domestic business.
-- In Singapore, Peter Yang was named head of GWM private wealth in the Asian city-state, succeeding Dominique Boer. Most recently, he was market team head and deputy business sector head for GWM Singapore in Greater China.
-- Henry Su and Dominique Boer left UBS to explore new opportunities.
-- Conrad Huber became business sector head of GWM Philippines, with Kenny Ng, as deputy BSH of GWM Philippines. This added to Huber’s leadership responsibilities across GWM Indonesia, Japan International and the bank’s “Next Generation” and “Global Connectivity” growth initiatives.
-- UBS also appointed Andrew Bird as GWM Australia. It also expanded his remit to include head of GWM Australia International alongside his role as head of GWM Australia Domestic. Vineet Mehta was made deputy business sector head GWM APAC India International. Mehta has a functional reporting line to Michael Baechli, head GWM NRI and global NRI coordinator.
Suntera Global appointed Lucas Ting as client services director, based in Hong Kong. He has more than 13 years’ experience supporting UHNW clients. Ting previously worked at Alvarez & Marsal, a global professional services firm in Hong Kong, where he advised family offices on the integration of Hong Kong and cross-border wealth management plans.
Manulife Hong Kong & Macao, part of Manulife, appointed Lilian Ng as an independent non-executive director. Previously, Ng held a range of senior leadership positions at Prudential, including MD, strategic business group and regional CEO for Greater China.
Julius Baer appointed former UBS figure Cherry Chow as a relationship manager for its intermediaries team in Hong Kong, reporting to Sandro Treier, group head intermediaries Greater China. Chow worked at UBS for more than nine years.
Value Partners Group appointed Cai Shaojun as managing director and head of fixed income. Prior to joining Value Partners, Cai served as head of global fixed income research and principal portfolio manager at E Fund Management (Hong Kong).
Klay Group appointed Rohit Ganguli as global head of wealth planning. Based in Singapore, Ganguli reports to Arjun Anand, chief executive officer (APAC). Ganguli was previously with EFG Bank, where he had served as head of wealth planning Asia since 2016.
Bank of Singapore appointed Lim Leong Guan as head of private banking for Middle East, South Asia & International, taking over the role vacated by the departure of Ranjit Khanna. Based in Dubai, Lim, who joined BoS in 2020, also became CEO of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) branch. Lim is concurrently interim global head of the investment solutions group. Annabelle Chow, head of financial intermediaries, became global segment lead for the FIM business. Chow reports to Yang.
BNP Paribas Wealth Management appointed former UBS senior figure Hiko Lee as head of investment counselling in Taiwan. Lee reports to John Lee, head of investment services Taiwan at BNP Paribas Wealth Management.
UOB made leadership changes in UOB China Limited (UOB China) and UOB Hong Kong Branch: Adaline Zheng, CEO of UOB Hong Kong Branch, was appointed as the new chief executive of UOB China. She took over from from Peter Foo, who is retiring after 15 years with the bank. George Tung, the lender’s country manager in South Korea, took over from Zheng as the CEO of UOB Hong Kong Branch; the appointments took effect from the start of July. Zheng has more than 20 years of banking experience across mainland China and Hong Kong. Tung has more than three decades of experience in the banking sector spanning mainland China, Hong Kong, South Korea and ASEAN markets. Sarah Courtney Dockett was made market executive of the Philippines, Australia & New Zealand at Citi Private Bank. She relocated from London to Singapore.
M&G Investments (M&G) appointed Cameron Sinclair as head of institutional distribution, Australia, based in Sydney. In this newly created-role, he reports to Amy Cho, head of Asia-Pacific. Sinclair, who has more than 25 years of experience in institutional sales and distribution, was previously a co-founder and partner at Invest, where he was involved with capital raising and distribution strategy.
RBC Wealth Management Asia made three senior appointments in Singapore: Abhijit Shetty joined as managing director and team head, with more than 23 years of private banking experience across major institutions including Citibank, Standard Chartered, DBS and ANZ. Also joining were Sandesh Assao as executive director, senior relationship manager, and Sudarshan V Athreya as MD, senior relationship manager.
Eastspring Investments appointed Fanny Lee as head of intermediary sales, Hong Kong. Lee is based in Hong Kong, reporting to Szu Yi Chin, head of global financial institutions and intermediaries, Eastspring Investments. Lee has more than 25 years’ experience in private wealth distribution across Hong Kong and Greater China.
Hong Kong-headquartered FWD Group Holdings appointed Martin Zingg as a non-executive director to join its board of directors. Zingg serves as group head of corporate development and strategic investments at Swiss Re.
