Derrick Tan, WRISE’s group CEO, welcomed Shaari to the firm in a message on his own LinkedIn page. “Twenty-one years ago, Bahren Shaari became my mentor. Today, I’m welcoming him to WRISE,” he wrote earlier this week. “In between, he has been a sounding board, a steady hand, and the person whose judgment I’ve reached for before some of the biggest decisions of my career. Anyone who has worked with Bahren knows the quality, he cuts through noise and gets to what actually matters.”
Shaari was BoS chief executive for 14 years from February 2015 to December 2022. He was also independent director at SPH Holdings in Singapore, for almost 11 years. In other roles, he is a board member of the National University of Singapore, and a board member of SPH Media. (WealthBriefingAsia reported on Shaari's departure here.)
Founded in 2022, WRISE is a wealth enterprise which aims to make it easier for ultra-high net worth individuals to grow, manage and protect their wealth. The Asian firm has hubs in Singapore, Dubai, Hong Kong, a client service centre in Taiwan, and a presence in Shenzhen and Thailand. In one of its most prominent moves, the firm appointed former VP Bank group CEO Paul Arni as non-executive director at WRISE Singapore in March 2025 to strengthen corporate governance and strategic growth.
