Sohmen, co-founder of the award-winning YK Pao School, brings experience in education and family philanthropy to support HKAWL’s work to support families translating their family values into actions that encourage responsible stewardship across generations. Chan, the founder and CIO of Chartwell Capital, is a strong advocate for Hong Kong as a global family office hub. Chiu, chairperson and executive director of Dorsett Hospitality International, is prominent in global hospitality. Her expertise in creating "world-class" experiences, combined with her passionate support for the arts, youth and education, provides insight into the lifestyle and cultural pillars of modern family legacy, the organisation said. “With Daryl, Philip, Ronald and Winnie on Board, HKAWL is deepening and scaling its work to help families to develop legacy strategically, cementing Hong Kong’s role as a leading global family office hub that creates shared value for society,” Dr Cheng said. Over the past two years, the academy has engaged more than 3,100 family asset owners and next-generation leaders through more than 20 capacity-building events. New milestones include the Impact Link Online Portal (iLink Online) launch, which aims to connect philanthropists and family offices with high-impact charitable projects, and strategic partnerships with global institutions such as the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, underscore its growing role as a dynamic “super-connector” for families worldwide, it said.
(HKAWL), led by chairman Dr Adrian Cheng, has made four appointments to its board of directors, effective 17 January 2026. Daryl Ng Win Kong and Philip Sohmen have been appointed as vice chairmen, joined by Ronald Chan Wai-yan and Winnie Chiu Wing-kwan as new board members.
