Citigroup's Malaysia Business Names New CEO

has appointed Vikram Singh as chief executive for its Malaysia business, effective 1 May, the US banking group said yesterday. He replaces Usman Ahmed who has joined National Bank of Bahrain as CEO.

The role means that Vikram also has oversight of the Citi Solutions Centers in Malaysia. He will report to Amol Gupte, South Asia and ASEAN head for Citigroup, it said in a statement.

Singh, who joined Citigroup in 1999, brings with him 24 years’ corporate banking experience, managing 18 markets in Asia-Pacific. He has held leadership positions in India and the Philippines, covering corporate investment banking. His most recent role at Citigroup was that of head of Asia-Pacific regional account management, in the global subsidiaries group, in Singapore. 

The bank said it has operated in Malaysia since 1959, and has almost 4,000 employees in the country.
