US Investment Manager Appoints Head Of Asia Ex-Japan

Investment manager  has appointed executive vice president Michael Thompson as head of Asia excluding Japan.

Thompson currently runs PIMCO’s Singapore office and the Asia ex-Japan wealth management team, the firm said in a statement.

He will relocate to Hong Kong within the next few months. He replaces and will report to Kimberley Stafford, managing director and is now head of Asia-Pacific.

The new head of Asia ex-Japan has 23 years’ experience in investment. He joined PIMCO’s London office in 2006 as head of European third-party distribution. He relocated to Singapore in 2010 and he became head of the Singapore office in 2014.

“Michael is an exceptional executive, with the industry expertise, client orientation and leadership skills to continue driving growth in our Asia ex-Japan business,” said Stafford. “He will be supported a capable team of investment professionals with deep knowledge and relationships in the region.” 

Scott Steele, executive vice president and head of Hong Kong and Singapore global wealth management, will relocate to Singapore and assume Thompson’s previous role as head of the Singapore office
