Zurich Life Names CEO For Malaysia Expansion

The Swiss insurer has tapped an industry veteran to scale up its Malaysian business.

Khoo Ai Lin has been named chief executive of Zurich Life Insurance Malaysia Berhad (ZLIMB), with immediate effect. She succeeds Stephen Clark, who is remaining as executive director of the Swiss insurance giant’s Malaysian business.

As CEO, the 20-year veteran will be responsible for growing the group’s life insurance business across Malaysia through its existing branch network. Ai Lin, who will be based in Kuala Lumpur, will report to ZLIMB’s board. Most recently, she was group CEO of Kuala Lumpur-based online insurer Tune Protect.

Her public profile states that Ai Lin (pictured) also spent seven years at Prudential Assurance in a number of senior distribution and marketing roles. She holds a bachelor of economics majoring in banking and finance from La Trobe University in Australia.

Zurich offeres a range of insurance and “takaful” (shariah-compliant insurance) solutions for businesses and individuals across Malaysia. They include life insurance products, medical and health protection, and savings and investments solutions.

“Ai Lin has excellent understanding of the insurance markets in Malaysia with a compelling breadth of expertise ranging from life to general insurance as well as digital platforms and innovation in her portfolio,” Clark said.

“I am confident that we will be able to scale the business by strengthening our distribution and partnership channels, and develop unique customer propositions.”
