Withers Sends Senior Lawyer Out East As Asian Drive Continues

Global law firm Withers has sent one of its senior lawyers to Asia as it continues putting more resource into the region.

Withers has switched one of its senior lawyers working in the employment law area from New York to Asia, as part of a move to boost its coverage in the latter region, it has announced.

Withers set up an office in Singapore in 2012, following its Hong Kong office opening in 2008.
Helen Colquhoun, who has advised firms and senior executives in the US and UK, has worked in domestic and cross-border areas of work, such as risk management, reputational issues, restructuring and contractual matters.

She has recently assisted in successful arbitration proceedings for the expungement of a U-5 before FINRA in New York, successfully negotiated the settlement of a sexual harassment and discrimination claim by a UK citizen against a US employer, and advised a senior executive on a move from a UK employer to a US competitor,” the firm said in a statement.

Colquhoun is qualified in New York and England & Wales. She joins as a Registered Foreign Lawyer, the statement added.

Among other moves in Asia, Withers in July said it had added to its global immigration practice with the senior appointment of Mark Lanning, a former tax treaty negotiator for the US. He joined as director of immigration in Hong Kong, a newly created role. To view some other Asia hires, click here.
