Withers Hires Asia-Focused Senior Lawyer

A senior lawyer versed in working with high net worth families and business owners in Asia has been appointed in London.

Withers, the international law firm, has hired Asia-focused corporate finance specialist Azlinda Ariffin-Boromand as partner in its London office. She previously worked at Olswang. She has also previously worked at Fasken Martineau and qualified as a barrister.

Ariffin-Boromand has worked with high net worth families and family offices, as well as institutions and government investment bodies, in Malaysia and across South East Asia. The majority of her practice involves advising these groups and individuals on investment into Europe and the US, as well as listings on markets across these regions.

“Azlinda is the best at what she does, and acts as a skilled intermediary to enable her South East Asian clients to access investment and fund-raising opportunities across the Western hemisphere. She is a trusted advisor to many of the leading family groups in Malaysia and beyond, who have absolute faith in her ability to deliver them the best solution,” said Chris Priestley, head of Withers’ European commercial team.

In other hires, the firm has built out its international commercial team this year with the appointments of Farhana Siddiqui in Singapore, commercial partners David Mallinson and Lada Shelkovnikova in Hong Kong and Singapore, and corporate partner Oleg Shvander in London.
