Who's Moving Where In Wealth Management? M&G, Citigroup, Others

The latest senior moves in asset and wealth management from across the Asia-Pacific region.

M&G Investments
M&G Investments has announced the appointment of Alfred Foo as director, intermediary channels, Singapore. He will be based in M&G’s Singapore office and will report to Berny Lin, head of distribution, Asia ex-Japan.

Foo has more than 18 years’ experience working in the financial industry. He was most recently at abrdn – formerly Standard Life Aberdeen - where he has been responsible for Singapore’s wholesale segment covering private banks, retail banks, insurance, and IFAs since 2018. Prior to that he worked in the private banking portfolio solutions team at Credit Suisse AG, Singapore. Foo started his career in Vanguard’s US office in Pennsylvania in 2003, before moving to Singapore in 2016 to join Standard Chartered Bank’s private banking investment advisory team focusing on Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia markets.

The intermediary channels team also recently appointed Roy Ko as client relationship manager in the Hong Kong office, reporting to Joseph Wong, head of intermediary channels, Hong Kong. Ko was most recently at Value Partners, Hong Kong where he worked in the private banking distribution team.

Citigroup
Citigroup has named Victor Alexiev as the global head of a business incubation programme of the bank which examines new business opportunities. The programme, called D10X, which sits in the US lender’s institutional clients group, was launched in 2016.

The appointment is effective immediately, Citigroup said. 

Alexiev reports to Valla Vakili, global head of venture innovation for Citi Ventures. He also has a matrix reporting line to Gulru Atak, managing director, ICG business development, innovation. Alexiev will lead a global team of former entrepreneurs, innovation strategists, product managers and venture builders to accelerate the development of new solutions that are accretive to the business and its clients. He joined Citigroup in 2018 as the Asia head of D10X.

Capco
Capco, the UK-headquartered technology and management consultancy, has made three senior appointments for its Asia-Pacific business.

The appointees are: 

John McBain, partner. Based in Hong Kong, McBain has more than 30 years’ experience in banking, capital markets and consulting in senior roles spanning areas that include strategy, operations, M&A, and transformation programs. He joined the firm after 10 years at Deloitte leading consulting and key client relationship across Asia-Pacific.

Thomas Schaumburg, partner. He is South East Asia digital and technology lead. Based in Singapore, Schaumburg has more than 30 years’ international experience in consulting and technology, advising senior executives on digital transformation, large technology programmes, and data management initiatives. Prior to Capco, he led KPMG’s IT strategy practice in France.  

Dr Shelley Zhou, Asia-Pacific ESG lead. Based in Hong Kong, Dr Zhou has more than 15 years’ experience as a carbon, climate and ESG professional focusing on corporate sustainability, environmental and carbon management consultancy, new energy and biotechnology. Dr Zhou will also continue her role as an adjunct associate professor at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
