Standard Chartered Bank has appointed Raymond Cheng in the newly-created role of chief investment officer for North Asia.

Based in Hong Kong, Cheng reports to Steve Brice, group CIO.

Prior to that, he headed research at Bank of Communications, and Bank of China.

In May the bank officially opened its Greater Bay Area (GBA) Centre, completing a $40 million development. In April it appointed longstanding senior figure Sachin Bhambani as head of wealth management for South Korea. Separately, in early April Standard Chartered in Hong Kong named Alson Ho (pictured) as head of wealth management in the jurisdiction.
