Who's Moving Where In Wealth Management? – SMBC, Natixis

The latest moves and appointments for senior roles for Asia-Pacific wealth management.

SMBC
Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation has appointed Jeff Ng as head of Asia macro strategy for its global markets and treasury business.

Based in Singapore, Ng formulates and disseminates views on Asian macro, currency and rates markets, with a focus on Australia, India and the ASEAN region.

He is responsible for recommending trade ideas and delivering SMBC’s Asia macro strategy to clients globally.

Ng has more than 14 years’ experience including roles at Deutsche Bank and Standard Chartered covering global markets as a strategist.

Natixis
Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking has appointed Abbas Rangwala in the newly-created role of head of mergers and acquisitions for Southeast Asia and India.

Rangwala, who most recently was group head of mergers, acquisitions and business development at Bharti Enterprises, the Indian corporate, is based in Singapore.

While not strictly a wealth management role, the job of advising and guiding M&A and functions puts Rangwala in contact with many individuals who stand to gain from the liquidity events M&A produces.

Rangwala reports to Miranda Zhao, head of M&A, Asia-Pacific, and Bertrand Guiot, head of real assets and investment banking, Southeast Asia and head of infrastructure fund coverage for APAC.

Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking is part of the Paris-headquartered Groupe BPCE, the second largest banking group in France and which operates through the Banque Populaire and Caisse d’Epargne retail networks.
