Vontobel Wealth Management Appoints Exec Director In Hong Kong

The wealth management arm of Switzerland-listed Vontobel has boosted its advisory team in the Asia-Pacific region.

Vontobel Wealth Management has appointed Joannes Ho as executive director and senior relationship manager in Hong Kong.

Ho, who brings over 30 years of experience in the private banking industry, was previously a director at CTBC Bank, serving high net worth clients in Greater China. Before that, he spent more than a decade at EFG Bank as managing director, covering Greater China, Japan and Singapore.

In the newly-created role, Ho will be responsible for advising clients while supporting business development in the region. He will report to Alex Fung, Vontobel Wealth Management's Asia-Pacific chief executive.

The appointment, alongside that of Christine Chen, who recently joined as a senior relationship manager, comes in response to increasing demand from Asian HNW clients for advisory and global diversification of their assets, Vontobel said in a statement.

As of the end of 2015, Zurich-headquartered Vontobel held SFr187 billion ($192 billion) of client assets, SFr42.5 billion of which were advised by its wealth management unit. The group generated a net profit of SFr180.1 million last year, up 34 per cent from the previous year.
