Vontobel Adds Structured Product Distributors To Asia-Pacific Platform

The Switzerland-headquartered firm has expanded its range of issuers on its structured products offering for the Asian market.

Vontobel Financial Products, part of Swiss bank Vontobel, has added four regional and international structured product distributors - LGT, Maybank, KGI Securities and Union Bancaire Privée - to its deritrade® Multi Issuer Platform in the Asia-Pacific market, it said yesterday.

Deritrade® MIP brings a “front-to-back” offering to distributors and issuers in Asia by automating the price discovery of structured products and the value chain from the point of issuance to distribution and post-trade life cycle management, Vontobel said in a statement. The lower overall costs for distributors will translate into more yields for clients, it said.

"The structured products market in APAC is in the midst of a fundamental change to reduce costs,” Anup Gupta, head of deritrade® MIP in Asia-Pacific, said.

Vontobel said the move follows the rollout of deritrade® MIP in Europe, where it features six prominent issuers of UBS, Vontobel, Morgan Stanley, Deutsche Bank, Société Générale and Zürcher Kantonalbank – accounting for more than 70 per cent of the exchange-traded structured product volume in Switzerland.
