Vontobel's Asset Management Business Bolsters Asia-Pacific Team

The Swiss-listed firm said it has added to its team serving the Asia-Pacific region.

Vontobel Asset Management, part of Swiss private bank Vontobel, has appointed Joanna Poon as client service manager to support its work in the Asia-Pacific region.

Poon has held similar roles at Allianz Global Investors, Baring Asset Management and Western Asset Management. She also held research and support roles at the Securities and Futures Commission and at Commercial Asia Economic Limited.

Since establishing a presence in Hong Kong in 2008, Vontobel Asset Management has grown its assets under management and advisory in the Asia-Pacific region to around $12 billion.

Last week, Vontobel reported that in the third quarter of 2015 it “performed well” amid uncertainties in emerging markets, falling equities and high volatility. Client assets under management reached SFr142 billion ($143.9 billion) at the end of September, in line with the middle of the year.
