UOB Names Southeast Asia Regional Market Head

The Singapore-based lender has been reorganising its private banking arm across three regional market groups.
United Overseas Bank has appointed Khoo Lin Wein as managing director and regional market head for Southeast Asia under its private banking arm.
Khoo, who reports to Chew Mun Yew, UOB’s private wealth head, will be responsible for “expanding the bank’s HNW client base across Southeast Asia and developing progressive products and services to meet their needs,” the Singapore-based bank said.
UOB said that Khoo’s addition to the team is in line with its reorganisation of the private bank arm across three regional market groups, namely Southeast Asia, Singapore and North Asia. Khoo is not directly replacing anyone in this role, the bank told WealthBriefingAsia when asked about the appointment.
“Wealth management is a strategic business priority at UOB. We continue to invest in our people and capabilities to advance our growth ambitions across Asia. We are pleased to welcome Lin Wein to the UOB family. As a veteran in private banking, his expertise and experience will be invaluable to accelerating our business strategy in wealth management,” Chew said.
Before joining UOB, Khoo spent close to five years as the head of private banking for leading banks in Malaysia and Vietnam.
