UBS Makes Series Of Hires In Singapore

UBS has just made a raft of new hires for its Asian wealth management business, according to an internal announcement seen by WealthBriefingAsia, sister publication to WealthBriefing.

Stepping in as executive director and desk head is Gary Goh. Goh joins the firm from Credit Suisse where he served as team leader and senior relationship manager. He brings over 13 years of experience in global private banking to the role.

Tan Yeu Cheng was also named executive director and cluster head. Cheng is a seasoned private banker and most recently served as senior vice president and team leader for the Singapore office of DBS Private Bank.

Joining the bank as director and client advisor is Yvonne Koh, who used to be vice president of private banking for Credit Suisse Singapore. Also recently named as client advisors and associate directors are Loh Swee Sung and Wendy Toh. Sung was previously a senior assistant relationship manager at Credit Suisse, while Toh was an associate director for Singapore at DBS Private Bank.

"These new appointments to the Singapore team will further strengthen UBS' client coverage for Singapore and demonstrate our ongoing commitment to develop our attractive franchise through the selective addition of talents," Peter Kok, regional market manager for UBS Wealth Management, said.

The Swiss bank has added about 400 new staff in Singapore since the start of 2010, 150 of whom are experienced client advisors. Media reports say the bank intends to grow its Asia Pacific advisor network from 900 to 1,200 over the next few years.

The appointments of Goh, Koh, and Sung took effect in 1 December, while Toh's became effective on 3 December. Tan Yeu Cheng joined the firm on 15 November. All will report to Eddie Gan, the country team head for Singapore, in their new roles.
