Thomson Reuters Unveils New Fund Analysis Platform

Thomson Reuters, the Anglo-Canadian news and data company, has unveiled Lipper for Investment Managers, a hosted desktop product making use of Lipper’s global fund data and content.

Lipper for Investment Management provides fund analysis and reporting on over 197,000 share classes covering mutual funds, closed-end funds, exchange traded funds, hedge funds, domestic pension and insurance products in 60 countries, and fund holdings in 12 major markets.

Included on the platform are Lipper Leaders, Lipper’s mutual fund rating system, and charting capabilities that enable risk and performance analyses. It is available in both English (US and UK) along with Japanese, and will soon be supporting German and simplified and traditional Chinese.

According to Thomson Reuters, the financial crisis and stock market volatility are forcing asset managers to improve their research methods and they are increasingly seeking independent investment insight to provide an “edge” which differentiates firms from their peer.

“Lipper for Investment Management provides comprehensive global fund coverage unrivalled in the marketplace today in order for them [asset managers] to efficiently spot opportunities and profit from better investment decisions,” said Andre Lavoie, global managing director of investment management at Thomson Reuters.
