Swiss Bank Recruits Former BNP Man In Hong Kong

This publication reports on latest moves and appointments in the Asian private banking sector.

Geneva-headquartered Union Bancaire Privée, which last year acquired the non-UK wealth management arms of Coutts, has hired a former BNP Paribas senior banker.

UBP has appointed Ricardo Choi in Hong Kong as managing director and team head for the Philippines market. The firm confirmed the appointment when contacted by this publication yesterday.

Among recent developments at UBP, it has completed the acquisition of Coutts' international activities in Singapore and Hong Kong, as reported here last week. The acquired entities in Switzerland, Monaco and the Middle East will become part of UBP in October. UBP obtained two licences for its Hong Kong branch, which enables it to offer its range of wealth management services and asset management activities in Asia.
