Summary Of Senior Moves In Asia-Pacific Wealth Management – July 2023
A summary of moves in the Asian wealth management sector.
LH Koh, who co-headed global family and institutional wealth (GFIW) for Asia-Pacific at UBS, became head of the team at the firm. Koh, who joined the Swiss bank in 2010, has been in a leadership position in the global family office business in Asia since 2020. LH Koh, a Singaporean, is a wealth management industry veteran with more than 20 years’ experience in investment banking and wealth management, focusing on Greater China and Southeast Asia markets.
Tommy Leung, also a co-head, decided to pursue an opportunity outside the firm after more than 20 years with UBS.
BlackRock appointed Mandy Lui to the new role of head of Greater China wealth. It also appointed Dennis Quah as head of Singapore wealth. Lui is responsible for developing relationships with distributors throughout Hong Kong, Taiwan and offshore China. She is based in Hong Kong. Prior to this, Lui served as head of wealth/retail distribution for Greater China and Southeast Asia for Baring Asset Management.
Quah works with consumer banks, private banks and insurers. He has two decades of asset management distribution and product development experience throughout Asian markets, having worked for Columbia Threadneedle, Amundi, OCBC Bank and Schroders.
Union Bancaire Privée, the Geneva-based bank, appointed Linda Lam as head of equity advisory for North Asia. Based in Hong Kong, Lam reports to Andy Lee, head of investment services, North Asia. Before this role, Lam was an equity specialist at HSBC Global Private Banking Hong Kong, focused on providing equity advisory for Greater China ultra-high net worth offshore wealth clients. She joined HSBC in 2017.
Farro Capital, the Singapore-based wealth platform and multi-family office, added new senior figures to its team.
It appointed experienced bank industry figure Manoj Samtani as executive director. He reports to CEO and Farro co-founder Hemant Tucker. Samtani has 21 years of international private banking and fund management experience with firms such as Bank of Singapore, EFG Bank AG, and Kotak Mahindra UK Ltd.
Farro also hired Zakiah Sulaiman as director of compliance and Ivy Chen as director of client relations. Sulaiman has more than two decades of experience in operations, compliance and risk management in the financial services industry. Prior to this, she worked with UBP and Bank of Singapore before joining Farro Capital.
France-based Groupe BPCE, which provides wealth and asset management via its Natixis Investment Managers firm, appointed Nathalie Bricker as group head of finance and strategy at Natixis IM, having previously been chief financial officer for Group BPCE’s global businesses. She reports to Tim Ryan, CEO at Natixis Investment Managers and head of asset and wealth management for Groupe BPCE.
Stéphane Morin was appointed chief financial officer at Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking. He reports to Stéphanie Paix, CEO of Groupe BPCE’s global businesses.
Jupiter, the UK-based asset management group with $62.7 billion at the end of March, appointed Cody Law as sales director for Hong Kong. Reporting to Karen Cheng, head of sales, North Asia, Cody works on relationships with retail banks in Hong Kong and supporting sales' growth and distribution networks across North Asia. Prior to joining Jupiter, he was director, financial intermediaries at Janus Henderson Investors. He has also worked for Citibank and HSBC.
Switzerland-based Partners Group appointed Toby Mannock as private equity head for Australia. Based Sydney, Mannock leads the firm’s private equity business in Australia. Before this, Mannock worked at ANZ, where he was a managing director in the investment banking division.
UBS named Dominique Boer as head of GWM private client and CSS Singapore; it also appointed Keng Cheong Lock as head of global wealth management for the Greater China Singapore business. UBS has appointed Rickie Chan as head of GWM Greater China Hong Kong.
In India and Australia, UBS announced that Michael Marr was the bank’s new head of GWM Australia.
For India, UBS appointed Puneet Matta as wealth management head for the country.

WRISE Group, a Singapore-based wealth management business, named CEOs for operations in Hong Kong and Singapore. Kevin Teng was named CEO of WRISE WM Singapore. Teng has more than 20 years of experience in the wealth management industry. He took over CEO responsibilities from Derrick Tan, chairman of WRISE Group, who focuses on the strategic initiatives, growth and leadership of the group’s businesses. The firm also named Joel Tan and Megan Zhang as co-chief executives of WRISE WM Hong Kong.
Standard Chartered Wealth Management HK recently made two
appointments. Sabina Chiang was named head, managed investments,
wealth management, to oversee the managed investments business
across retail, business and private banking in Hong Kong. Chiang,
who reports to Alson Ho, head, wealth management, Hong Kong, was
formerly head of managed investments, Private Bank Hong Kong.
Adam Ng, who was appointed as head of managed investments,
Private Bank Hong Kong, continues to report to Chiang. Prior to
Standard Chartered, he worked at HSBC Private Banking, where he
was an alternative investment specialist advising various
alternative solutions to private banking clients. Before that, Ng
held various positions in DLJ Real Estate Capital Partners and
Deutsche Bank.
Union Bancaire Privée made seven new senior hires at its Singapore branch.
In the latest move, Jennie Hananto joined as market head for Southeast Asia. Prior to joining UBP, Hananto led a Southeast Asia team at EFG Private Bank and served as the vice chair of Southeast Asia at Bank J Safra Sarasin.
Yi Mun Tse took up the market head role for Greater China, bringing her experience in managing clients and bankers in the region. Before joining UBP, Tse served as market head of Deutsche Bank Wealth Management, Greater China, and held a similar position at HSBC Private Banking.
Donniel Low was appointed as team head for Southeast Asia. Before joining UBP, Low worked as an investor in startups building on his years spent at UOB Private Banking where he was team head and UHNW senior client advisor.
UBP welcomed four senior relationship managers: Lim Kean Choon, Valerie Tan, Zen Cheng and Whilton Leo.
