The New-York headquartered auction house has made a senior appointment within its Asia branch.

Sotheby’s Asia has hired Steven Zuo as head of its classical Chinese paintings department.

In the newly created role, Zuo will be responsible for the company's growth in Asia and appraising classical Chinese paintings for auctions. He will be based in Hong Kong.

He brings 18 years of art expertise, primarily in curating and auctioning art in mainland China and Hong Kong.

“In his new role, Steven will continue to build on the fruitful foundations of collaboration with the classical Chinese paintings department in New York.
