Saudi-Owned Bank Names Chairman Of Malaysian Subsidiary

Al Rajhi Bank Malaysia, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the world’s largest Islamic bank, Al Rajhi Bank, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has appointed Datuk Dr Nik Norzrul Thani Bin Nik Hassan Thani as its new chairman. Datuk Dr Nik has more than 35 years of local and international experience in the legal, academic and Islamic banking sectors. 

He has been acting chairman of the bank and has served as a board member of ARBM since 2006. In his role, Datuk Dr Nik advises clients on a wide range of legal matters from banking advisory to Islamic finance. 

Datuk Dr Nik has been a visiting Fulbright scholar at Harvard Law School as well as a Chevening fellow at Oxford University.

Following its official launch in 2007, Al Rajhi Bank Malaysia became, it said, the first Arab bank to start its operations in Southeast Asia.
