Saffery Champness Beefs Up Swiss Team

Fiduciary, tax and accountancy firm Saffery Champness has expanded its Geneva-based fiduciary team with a new managing director and two further hires, all formerly of Schroder Trust.
UK-based Saffery Champness has hired to its Geneva team Schroder & Co's Gordon Matthew as managing director, along with two other former Schroder employees.
Matthew joins the fiduciary services team in Geneva from Schroder Trust, where he was managing director since 2007. He assumes the newly created role and brings with him over 30 years’ experience in trust and fiduciary services, during which he was also branch manager at Robert Fleming in Geneva and head of the trust department at Banque Morgan Grenfell en Suisse.
“His wealth of experience in trusts and fiduciary services work, coupled with his vast network of relationships in this marketplace, will be of tremendous benefit to our clients,” said Paul Tucknott, executive director of the firm's Geneva office.
Also joining the Geneva team, which serves the local and international private wealth, family office and trust community, are Francine Wilson as director and Madeleine Deslarzes as trust administrator. Both previously worked at Schroder Trust.
“The expertise that Gordon and his team have will add further quality to the client service that we offer and are a sign of our firm’s commitment to Switzerland whilst other trust companies are moving out or closing down,” said Tucknott.
The new additions come as part of Saffery Champness's growth drive in the Swiss trust and fiduciary marketplace. The Geneva team has almost doubled in size over the past 18 months, enhancing the firm's offshore presence, which covers offices in Zurich, Geneva and Guernsey.
