Rathbone Reinforces Absolute Returns with Barings Hire

Rathbone Investment Management has appointed David Coombs as an investment director to reinforce its absolute return and optimised risk funds together with multi-asset portfolios for private clients.

He joins from Baring Asset Management where he was head of multi-manager investments and the manager of the Baring range of multi-manager funds.

Rathbones director Richard Smeeton said: “We currently have £2 billion ($4 billion) invested on behalf of private investors and charities in third party funds and alternative investment products. David has developed a consistent track record in the management of unconstrained solutions and low volatility products, and his experience will undoubtedly deepen our investment offering in alternatives and collectives generally. He will also be supporting the management of risk-adjusted funds for our Jersey-based offshore investment management operations.”
