Rathbone Brothers, the UK wealth and investment manager, has appointed Andrew Butcher as chief operating officer, subject to regulatory approval.

Previously, Butcher worked at Charles Stanley & Co, where he held the same position. His predecessor, Paul Chavasse, will become head of investment management at Rathbones early next year.

In other related news, Rathbones hired James Codrington in September as an investment director within its London-based charities team. Codrington joined from Baring Asset Management, where he was in charge of charity operations.
