Pictet Wealth Management Names New CIO For Asia

This publication carries latest news on moves and appointments in the Asia-Pacific wealth management sector.

Pictet Wealth Management has appointed David Gaud as chief investment officer for Asia. Based in Singapore, Gaud reports to Cesar Perez Ruiz, chief investment officer of Pictet Wealth Management. Gaud replaces Bhaskar Laxminarayan who was CIO in Asia.

Gaud has over 20 years’ experience in the banking industry, mostly in Asia, including 11 years managing investment strategies. He joined Pictet from Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management, where he started working in 2006, first in France and then in Hong Kong, as an Asian equities fund manager.

In his latest role at Edmond de Rothschild, Gaud was head of emerging equity. Previously, he worked at HSBC Bank, in Singapore and then in London, before joining Deutsche Bank’s Asia Equity Sales team in London. He began his career in 1996 at Fimat Bank in Singapore, where he was desk manager for futures and options.

A French national, Gaud holds a Master’s degree in Economics as well as an Advanced Master’s in Risk Management & Financial Trading Activities from University of Lyon 2, France.

Across the region, Pictet Wealth Management employs more than 200 staff both in Singapore and Hong Kong, operating in Singapore since 1995.

This publication has asked Pictet to clarify if Gaud’s appointment is a direct replacement for a predecessor or a newly-formed position, and will update in due course.
