One Of Australia's Big-Four Banks Opens Another Branch In West China

ANZ, the Australian bank, has opened a new branch in Chengdu, West China.

ANZ, one of Australia's largest banks, has widened its presence in China with the opening of a new branch in Chengdu.

Chengdu is the capital and the largest city in the Sichuan Province. This new outlet is the bank's second in the West China area and will offer a full range of products and services, including trade and supply chain, cash management, markets and relationship banking services for corporate customers.

"As one of China’s most vibrant and prosperous cities, Chengdu is an important contributor to economic growth and development of the West China which is a strategic market for ANZ in China," said Mike Smith, chief executive for ANZ.

The bank established its Chengdu operations hub in March 2011 and has benefited from the double digit growth the area has been seeing in its gross domestic product rate over the past decade, the firm said in a statement. It employs around 220 staff. Elsewhere in the country, it operates in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chongqing and Hangzhou.
