Offshore Law Firm Makes Senior BVI Hire

Jersey-headquartered law firm Bedell Cristin has appointed Valerie Georges-Thomas to head up its Tortola office in the British Virgin Islands.
Georges-Thomas advises on all aspects of structuring and forming hedge and private equity funds, as well as on corporate and commercial law transactions. The firm said she has been at the forefront in advising on the new securities and regulatory legislation in the BVI and its implications.
Prior to joining Bedell, Georges-Thomas was a partner with offshore law firm Appleby in the firm’s corporate and commercial practice group. Her appointment follows on from Bedell opening an office in Singapore in July, to offer BVI legal services to Asian clients.
“A key strategy at the firm has been to enhance our capabilities in providing BVI law to international clients to meet the growing demand for offshore legal services from Asia,” said Simon Pascoe, partner and head of Bedell’s BVI legal practice, based in Jersey.
