O'Melveny recruits former SEC enforcement lawyer in New York

The US law firm of O'Melveny & Myers has added to its white collar practice, which has seen the arrival of several federal enforcement officials in the past year, with news today that Bill Martin, a former senior counsel at the Securities and Exchange Commission, has joined the firm in New York.

Martin worked at the SEC’s New York office in the the Market Abuse Unit, where he investigated and prosecuted insider dealers.

Working with federal agencies including the FBI, IRS, FINRA, and Justice Dept., Martin also handled matters involving cybersecurity, investment compliance, and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. He joins O’Melveny as counsel.

Martin’s arrival lengthens the list of former regulatory officials who have joined recently, including Justice Department securities and financial fraud prosecutor Ben Singer, and former Assistant Attorney General Lisa Monaco.
