New Non-Exec Director At Butterfield

Bermuda-headquartered Butterfield
has appointed Alastair Barbour as a
non-executive director, replacing Robert Steihoff, who retired
following the
2012 annual general meeting.
Barbour is a chartered accountant with over 25 years of
experience
providing auditing and advisory services to publicly-traded
companies,
primarily in the financial services industry, the firm
said.
Most recently, Barbour was head of KPMG’s financial services
group in
Scotland, until 2011. Earlier in his career, he worked at
KPMG Bermuda between 1983 and 1991, where he was named
partner in 1985. He also worked at KPMG in the Bahamas from
1978 until 1983.
Barbour is a director of various public companies, including
RSA
Insurance Group, Liontrust Asset Management, Standard Life
European Private
Equity Trust and CATCo Reinsurance Opportunities Fund, as well as
private companies
CATCo Reinsurance Fund and Scottish Equitable Policyholders
Trust.
Along with Barbour, the firm has two UK-based directors on its board.
Earlier this month, Butterfield announced an agreement to sell
its
wholly-owned Barbados subsidiary to Trinidad and
Tobago-based First
Citizens Bank. The deal, subject to regulatory approval, will
complete in the
third quarter of this year and comprise gross proceeds, subject
to normal
adjustments, of $45 million, the firm said in a statement at the
time.
