New Investment Chief Takes Over At HSBC Global AM

Based in London, Munro will assume the role at the end of September.
HSBC Global Asset Management, part of HSBC, has appointed one of its senior figures, Joanna Munro, to take up the post of global chief investment officer, replacing Chris Cheetham who is retiring from the role, as announced in May.
Based in London, Munro will assume the role at the end of September, reporting to Nicolas Moreau, global CEO. Her predecessor, Cheetham, had worked in the investment sector for more than four decades.
Munro is global head of stewardship and fiduciary governance and chair of HSBC Global Asset Management UK. She joined HSBC Global Asset Management as global CIO of HSBC Investments in October 2005. Munro has served as head of product and, more recently, chief executive of the business’ Asia-Pacific operations.
Separately, Munro is a non-executive director of the Investment Association in the UK and a founding member of the Diversity Project, where she initiated the Early Careers Workstream. Prior to that, she was a NED of the CFA UK and a member of its advisory council.
