Morningstar Names New CIO For Australian Investment Advisory Business

Ibbotson Services Australia, a subsidiary of Morningstar, names new CIO.

Ibbotson Associates Australia, the investment advisory group owned by Morningstar, has appointed a new chief investment officer for Asia-Pacific.

Andrew Lill will be responsible for leading the investment management teams in the region, while contributing to the parent company's global investment management strategy. Based in Sydney, he reports to Daniel Needham, global CIO for Morningstar.

Lill brings 20 years of industry experience to this role and most recently served as head of investment solutions at the multi-asset group of AMP Capital Investors. Before that, he was the head of investment specialists for listed assets at the same firm and director of consulting, Asia-Pacific, and director and investment strategy at Russell Investments Group.

He takes over from Needham, who has continued to hold the role even after being appointed to a global position in May 2013. Since then, Needham had been dividing his time among Sydney, Chicago and London, where he is now based.

Ibbotson Associates Australia provides investment management and consulting services to institutions and advisors. It had approximately $176 billion in assets under advisement and management as at 30 September 2013.
