Morgan Stanley affiliate makes structured products hire

Former Quantam Asset Management wholesaler joins Morgan Stanley IQ. London-based Morgan Stanley IQ, the European retail structured-products progam of New York-based Morgan Stanley, has hired former Quantum Asset Management (QAM) wholesaler Neville Godley to lead its distribution efforts. He'll report to MSIQ executive director Marc Chamberlain.

Tremendous asset

Godley filled a similar role at QAM, which has gone out of business. Before joining QAM in 2005, Godley spent six years on Gartmore Asset Management's strategic partners team.

"I am delighted that Neville has chosen to join Morgan Stanley," says Chamberlain. "He has an excellent, comprehensive knowledge of retail and discretionary environments and will be a tremendous asset to the team."

The SEC defines structured products as "securities whose cash flow characteristics depend upon one or more indices or that have embedded forwards or options or securities where an investor's investment return and the issuer's payment obligations are contingent on, or highly sensitive to, changes in the value of underlying assets, indices, interest rates or cash flows."

Structured products are usually issued by investment banks. -FWR
