Middle East-Based Family Office Names Global Private Equity Head

A former senior figure at UNC Management Company, which is based in the US, has joined Miras Investments.

Miras Investments, a Middle East-based single family office, has appointed Matthew Lesesky as global head of private equity. He reports to Elizabeth Hewitt, chief investment officer.

Lesesky leads the firm’s private equity programme worldwide. Miras invests mainly through commingled funds run by third-party managers, adding co-investments where appropriate. He will work with Hewitt, the investment committee and shareholders within the team’s delegated framework.

Prior to this new role, Lesesky spent 14 years at UNC Management Company, the Chapel Hill-based non-profit that manages endowment and long-term assets for the University of North Carolina System. Most recently he was managing director on its private investment team, overseeing venture capital, growth equity and buyout investments.

Before that, he served in investment management roles at Hatteras Funds and Pacific Corporate Group Capital Partners. Earlier, he was an associate in Citigroup’s investment banking division and at Fusion Ventures, an early-stage venture capital fund.

Founded in 1980, Miras is structured along endowment lines, with an equity-biased portfolio spanning public equities, hedge funds, private equity and venture capital. Its investment team is split between the US and the Middle East.
