Merrill Lynch has appointed Serge Robin as its new head of the firm’s Swiss private banking business. Mr Robin joins from UBS where he was involved in the bank’s family business initiative, which targeted the ultra-high net worth market.

He replaces Nick Stonestreet, who has moved back to the US for Merrill. Mr Robin told WealthBriefing he was delighted to be joining Merrill and believed the firm is well placed to grow its business in Switzerland.

“I believe we are putting the strategy in place that will see rapid growth, both in terms of organic and acquisitions,” he said.

Before joining UBS, Mr Robin spent 17 years with Lombard Odier and rose to be head of asset management.

Merrill’s Swiss private banking business employs around 280 people.
