Manulife In Hong Kong Appoints IT Chief

Manulife, the Canada-headquartered firm operating in regions such as Asia, has appointed Mark Van den Broek as chief information officer of its Hong Kong branch.

In this role, Van den Broek will lead the information service team in the planning and implementation of organisation IT systems in support of the Hong Kong business operations. He joins with 18 years of experience in IT and operations with expertise spanning investment management, wealth management, life, health, property and casualty insurance domains, the firm said in a statement.

Before joining Manulife, Van den Broek held a number of senior management positions. Most recently, he was regional chief information officer of AXA, responsible for IT strategy, delivery, security and operations for all business units across the Asia region.  

The news comes five months after the opening of Manulife’s Hong Kong office. At the end of December 2015, the firm had $714 billion in assets under management.
