Major Wealth Manager Names Senior NRI Banker, Team Head For Southeast Asia, Singapore

One of the largest of the Europe-headquartered wealth management houses has added a team leader and senior banker for its NRI team in Singapore and Southeast Asia.

BNP Paribas Wealth Management has appointed Harjeet Singh as managing director, team head and senior banker for non-resident Indian clients in Singapore and Southeast Asia, effective immediately.

Singh reports to Masroor Batin, head of NRI clients at the wealth manager.

Based in Singapore, Singh is responsible for building and managing a team of relationship managers serving the wealthy NRI segment in Southeast Asia, with a core focus on Singapore.

This publication asked BNP Paribas if the role was a newly created or expanded one; the bank hadn't responded to this query at the time of going to press.

“His extensive knowledge in managing client relationships and market development will ensure that our clients will receive the high quality solutions they need to create and preserve their wealth. His appointment reinforces our focus and commitment towards building a sustainable business within the NRI markets,” Samir Bimal, head of Indian markets at the firm, said.

Singh was most recently an executive director at JP Morgan Private Bank, Singapore. Prior to joining JP Morgan in 2011, Singh was director, IPB Asia for Barclays Wealth, Singapore. He has also served in senior positions at HSBC Bank and ABN AMRO Private Bank.

In May, Bimal was named managing director and head of Indian markets and Himanshu Mehta was appointed as managing director and chief executive, BNP Paribas Wealth Management India.
