MUFG Business In Hong Kong Appoints International Research Boss

This publication brings latest news of moves and appointments in global wealth management.

Mitsubishi UFJ Securities (HK), part of Japan’s Mitsubishi UFG Financial, has appointed Rick Mattila as managing director, international head of research. He is relocating to join the company in Hong Kong.

Mattila has worked for the past five years driving MUFG’s businesses in Europe and North America. He has spent 15 years covering investment-grade and high-yield credit in Europe. Prior to joining MUFG in 2010, he held positions at Merrill Lynch Bank of America and Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein.

In the new role, Mattila retains oversight of strategist and analyst functions across all asset classes on an international basis. In Hong Kong, he will report to Dong Nam, head of credit trading and sales, Asia, and internationally to Jim Higgins, international head of credit.

Trent Hagland, head of Asia for MUFG’s international securities business, said: “This is a very significant development for our business in the region as we look to expand our research capabilities and client penetration.”
