M&G Names Asia-Pacific Risk, Compliance Chief

The role is a newly-created one for the group, which has made a number of senior appointments.

M&G Investments has appointed an Asia-Pacific risk and compliance chief, Elaine Cheung.

Cheung, who will take up the post from 9 October, brings more than two decades’ experience. The role is a newly-created one, the UK-headquartered business said.

Cheung most recently worked at rival fund management group Janus Henderson Investors, where she was involved in its risk, compliance and governance framework for APAC, M&G said in a statement yesterday. She has also served in regional roles at Ashmore, PIMCO, and BlackRock in a career that has taken her to Sydney, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

“Her leadership will be instrumental in enhancing our risk and compliance functions in supporting our strategy and growth of the business, particularly in our focus markets of Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, and Hong Kong," Loretta Ng, M&G’s head of Asia-Pacific, said.

Cheung holds a bachelor of business and law from the University of Technology, Sydney, and has completed the INSEAD International Directors Program.

In August, M&G Investments appointed Peter Kim as the head of Korea to expand its business pursuits in South Korea. In June it appointed Manabu Fujita as head of M&G Investments Japan.
