M&G Builds Out Asia-Pacific Fixed Income Team

The UK-based firm is expanding its capabilities across the region, it said.
M&G Investments, the UK asset manager overseeing £350 billion ($438.8 billion) of assets, has appointed Guan Yi Low as head of fixed income in Asia-Pacific. The firm said it intends to build a fixed income team in the region.
Guan Yi, who will join on 25 July from Eastspring Investments where she was head of fixed income, will be responsible for developing M&G’s capabilities by expanding the team and, over time, launching new strategies for the firm’s clients. Guan Yi, who has more than 20 years of experience in the Asian fixed income markets, will jointly report to Jim Leaviss, chief investment officer of M&G’s public fixed income division, and Loretta Ng, head of Asia-Pacific.
The firm said it intends to grow its global public debt platform. The new investment team, which will be based in Singapore, will provide regional coverage to the global and emerging market credit fund management and in-house research teams to support sovereign, investment grade and high-yield credit investment, as well as enable the firm to offer dedicated Asia-Pacific strategies for the first time.
The organisation has been expanding investment and distribution capabilities in the Asia-Pacific region since 2019, led by Loretta Ng.
