Lombard Odier IM Boosts Sustainability Expertise

Lombard Odier Investment Managers, the asset management arm of the Swiss private bank Lombard Odier, make senior hire.

Lombard Odier Investment Managers (LOIM) has appointed Mona Shah as senior sustainability strategist, as part of its drive to bolster its sustainability expertise.

Shah's hire follows last year’s launch of holistiQ Investment Partners, a sustainable investment platform within LOIM that invests across asset classes transitioning towards a sustainable economy, with a focus on nature-based solutions.

Effective April 2024, Shah will be based in London, reporting to Michael Urban, chief sustainability strategist at holistiQ. In her new role, Shah will be responsible for developing sustainable investment solutions for clients, in collaboration with LOIM’s holistiQ sustainability research and investment teams, the firm said in a statement.

Shah will be joining from Stonehage Fleming, where she has been head of sustainable investments since 2018. In this role, Shah was the portfolio manager of the firm’s multi-asset and equity-only sustainable investment strategies, the firm added. Prior to Stonehage Fleming, she worked at Rathbones Investment Management, where she was head of collectives research, overseeing £20 billion ($25 billion) of investments in third-party funds.

She sits on the investment committee for the endowment at Jesus College, Oxford University, where her role is to advise on reaching net zero with college assets by 2030. She is also on the Stewardship Council for, which is a framework to shift the investment management sector towards more inclusive behaviours and cultures.

“Mona’s in-depth knowledge and extensive experience will be instrumental as we develop solutions for clients seeking attractive investment returns from investing in the transition to a sustainable economy,” Jasbir Nizar, UK CEO at Lombard Odier Investment Managers, said.

Lombard Odier Investment Managers is the asset management business of the Lombard Odier Group. It has a network of 13 offices across Europe, Asia and North America and assets under management of SFr62 billion ($70 billion).
