JP Morgan has created a new marketing umbrella group in the US and has consolidated business units under it, according to reports in the US media. The new group will be led by Helena Jordao; she previously was head of competitive strategy at the US bank.

The new marketing organisation will be broken down to three units: strategy, to be led by Ms Jordao; communications, led by Siew Thye Stinson; and events, led by Lynn Meggers.

According to the Wall Street Letter - which obtained an internal memo from JP Morgan detailing the changes — marketing strategy will focus on defining the brand and creating highly targeted regional marketing plans and programmes.

Marketing communications will handle content development, design and production of all the private bank's publications, and marketing events will handle client event design, oversight and execution and sponsorship negotiation.

The memo also said the move was designed to centralize and reduce the generalist, regional-based model previously in effect, which will “create a highly efficient and revenue-driven marketing organization where we will fully utilize our marketing expertise and channels.”
