Investor Interest In Technology Stocks Rises – Barclays Stockbrokers

Technology stocks look to be a future top pick for clients of Barclays Stockbrokers, which found that 63 per cent of respondents to a survey said technology stocks are on their investment radar.

Nevertheless, only 18 per cent of clients actually hold them in their portfolio and 26 per cent are interested in investing in them. One in five (19 per cent) are currently monitoring the sector.

Barclays Stockbrokers clients also stated the top technology stocks that are candidates for their portfolios, with 57 per cent naming Apple as their top pick. The firm also said it is the most popular stock on the Barclays Stockbrokers International Trader platform, since January 2011. Google came second in the poll, with 11 per cent of investors expressing their interest in the firm. Meanwhile, 10 per cent of clients confirmed they would be interested in investing in Facebook and Twitter if/when they float, and Cisco Systems, the US computer networking company, came fourth with 8 per cent of the vote.

“Investing in technology has been a popular trend for some time and the investment demand for this sector is strong among our clients. Investment opportunities in stocks such as Apple remain on the radar for investors and the majority of our clients who responded to this survey are interested in the sector,” said Paul Inkster, head of product at Barclays Stockbrokers.
